Innovative Resources Based on ICTs
(Information and Communications Technologies) and Authentic Materials to
Improve EFL Students’ Communicative Needs

This
research is about identifying EFL students’ communicative needs and developing
their oral skills through the use of authentic materials and information and
Communications Technologies (ICTs) in the classroom. The participants are three
groups of seventeen years old students attending 1st year of Bachillerato in
three different secondary schools within the region of Madrid. This research
was designed by using action research based on preliminary research study where
able to observe the current EFL teaching practices in Spain and to identify the
students’ communicative needs. Research in this field showed that innovative
materials based on authentic materials and ICTs provide great outcome in
teaching English to speakers of other languages and for this finding it can
eventually prove that the materials and resourced used in the language can
actually become a driving force in the renovation of the EFL teaching system in
Spanish schools.
Authentic materials provide massively conent knowlegde. I can bravely consider that the authentic materials is more update than the smartest teacher in a school.
BalasHapusBoth authentic materials and teachers are the need in classroom. Authentics materials are often update and the teacher as the facilitator for the students also need to update in every authentic materials so both of them are balance in learning process.
HapusNow, it is clearer that teaching language (especially English) needs innovation. One of them is appliying ICTs combined with the authentic materials. However, I also believe that authentic materials indeed play significant role in teaching language as it provides more real context. What a nice information!
